Introducing Becky Roemer!

I’d like to introduce you to our new Administrator: Becky Roemer will be joining Homestead Living on December 12!

Becky grew up in the Mazomanie – Black Earth area and attended Wisconsin Heights High School.  She says her passion for working with the Elderly comes naturally, “The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.”  Becky grew up watching her mother’s work in community outreach with the elderly population in Mazo - Black Earth.  “My mother really set an example for the kind of career I would pursue,” Becky says, “I try to practice the same respect and dignity that she modeled.”  Becky learned many of her caregiving values from her mother; emulating the way that her mother embraced their community and worked to make it stronger by approaching each person she encountered as an individual, “It was never a job for her, it was just a way of life.”

Becky received her CSW from the State of Wisconsin after completing her degree at Edgewood College, where she studied Psychology and Sociology with a concentration in Human Services. Becky lives in Madison with her husband Liam, who is a CNA in UW Hospital’s Oncology Unity.  Becky has worked in the Madison area at Attic Angels and Belmont and comes to Homestead as a highly regarded and well-respected member of the Dane County Memory Care Community.

“There was never a question in my mind that this was what I was meant to do,” says Becky, “There is something really special about being able to share the final chapter of someone’s life with them.”  Becky is honored to have been able to share the stories, accomplishments, and experiences of the people that she has worked with at Belmont and Attic Angels.  “Aging can be scary for some people.  And I like to think that I can provide some comfort.” Becky values a dignified end of life as highly as she values a life well-lived.

Becky is excited to be joining the Homestead family.  “The most important thing I can do is listen and learn,” Becky says of undertaking this new adventure. She is looking forward to leading with a team approach and a culture of collaboration at Homestead, “Everyone who has worked in the field, or has a loved one who is living with Alzheimer’s or other Dementias has expertise that is worth sharing.”

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Becky to Homestead.  She is a great fit with our core values and caregiving philosophies:  She has years of experience with person-centered Memory Care, a passion for aging in place, and a huge appetite for learning, growth, and innovation.  With Becky at the helm, Homestead Living can maintain our quality of care, while also building on our current program and continuing to evolve.
